Supporting Women in Australian Local Government Through the Pandemic

Local Government Professionals Australia is supporting women working in local government across Australia through online peer support, a webinar series, and resource sharing in a newly announced project funded by the Australian Government Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.

The project aims to mitigate the impacts of COVID-19 on women working in local government by giving participants:

  • Access to support for career resilience during and beyond the COVID-19 pandemic, from discussion forums and webinars to scholarship opportunities
  • Platforms to share experience and support (and receive support from) other women in local government on various issues during the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Networking opportunities with peers in local government from across the country

This project will begin in September/October 2020 and run until mid-2021.

This project is targeting women currently working in local government who have been impacted by COVID-19 professionally and/or financially. We are seeking a broad range of female local government employees in a non-elected capacity, across rural, regional, and metropolitan councils in every state and territory in Australia.
